The online dating world can be tricky to navigate. If you are dating a person you met on a dating app and it has gotten serious, you probably want to find out if they are committed to you. One way to show commitment is by deleting the app from their phone. How do you safely find a specific person on a dating app?
How to find a specific person on a dating app:
Let’s use the dating app Bumble as an example. You met your significant other on Bumble and things are now serious. You have both changed your Facebook statuses, but in the back of your mind you are wondering if he (or she) really stopped using the app. Trust takes time to build and they have already assured you that they deleted their dating apps. How do you find out for sure? You could use a Bumble account to do your own search, but wouldn’t that be beside the point if you are trying to build trust?
If you do decide to use a personal Bumble account here are the steps:
Keep in mind that this process is going to take some time and patience. Your best bet is to have a Bumble Premium account so that you can swipe. Many dating apps including Bumble do not have a search bar to look up a specific person.
1. Create an attractive profile.
In order to find a person on Bumble you will need your own Bumble account. Create a brand new account that has never been swiped left on. Provide more than one picture. Bumble recommends using pictures of you enjoying yourself and not just using selfies. Set your age to match the person that you are looking for.
Swiping left means that you are not interested. If you swipe left on a person or vice versa, it means that you will not longer show up in their potential match queue. Also, remember to verify your account.
2. Correctly set your location.
A Bumble search will only be successful if you set your location to match your target. Try to be as specific as possible when setting your location. This could be a home address, apartment complex, university campus, near favorite hangout spots, or a workplace. Narrow down your proximity search by shrinking the distance radius. A larger radius will make it harder to find that person.
Be as specific as possible when setting your location.
Unfortunately, Bumble does not have a passport location feature so you will have to do some extra steps to pull this off.
On an Android phone:
First, enable Development Mode on your phone.
Next, install a gps spoofing application.
Then, restart Bumble.
3. Swipe Left until the cows come home (on all non-matching users):
Swipe, swipe, and swipe until you find the person you are looking for. This can be a long and arduous process especially if there are many users in the area that you are searching.
Another option is to use a service that can do searches for you. Buzz Humble is a reputable service that will do all of the leg work for you. It is an easy, streamlined process. All you have to do is enter your search criteria into their easy to use form Then grab a cup of coffee and relax while you wait for your report.
Additional tips for a successful Bumble search:
Always save screenshots.
Once you have found the person make sure that you save screenshots of the profile / evidence. More often than not, they may claim that it was simply a blast from the past that they forgot to delete. Meanwhile, they may quickly delete the app since it is a hot topic removing their profile. If you match with them they cannot use that excuse so take a screenshot!
Remain anonymous.
If you are worried about getting caught doing the search; don’t use your real photo. You can even use a different name. Chances are, they may be doing the same. Remaining anonymous gives you more options.
Search multiple dating apps.

Most importantly, always use a blend of your best judgement, common sense, and follow your gut. If something feels wrong or off, it may need further investigation.
Perhaps you have heard the lyrics “Black Hole Sun”, by Sound Garden and imagined a black hole in the sky. Well, as it turns out there could actually be a tiny black hole between five and fifteen times the mass of the earth hiding in our very own solar system. If you aren’t familiar with black holes you might think that we should have seen it by now. This actually isn’t the case because a black hole with the five times the mass as earth would be compacted to about the size of your average base ball. Neat huh?
A black hole like this wouldn’t be created in your standard star collapse but likely its as old as the universe itself. The reason scientists are speculating its a black hole is because something in our solar system that is at least 5 times larger than earth is hanging around but we can’t see it..until now potentially.
It is believed that black holes would be surrounded by dark matter and antimatter which would in theory emit gamma rays periodically. We have 11 years of data which should show evidence of these gamma ray flashes and scientists are now studying the data. Stay tuned to find out if we are indeed living next door to a tiny black hole.
Does hula hooping & law of attraction sound like an interesting combination? I’m excited to tell you about how I plan on blending these two together, but first it is time for a story. I would introduce myself, but this is “an anonymous blog of opinions” so you may call me “Whisper.”
It all started last summer. I decided that it was time for me to drop the baggage and to get into shape. After reuniting with a friend on Facebook, she told me that I was killing myself with my current lifestyle and that I needed to lose weight. She was concerned because she thought that my body type was showing signs of being a diabetic. The words stung, but instead of blocking her to save face; I decided to take her words to heart and take action!
This book inspired me to lace up my running shoes day after day.
Slow Jogging: science-based natural running for weigh-loss, health & performance benefits:
Amazon reviews helped me find good pair of running shoes and I took off running. By early December I was able to run my very first half-marathon without stopping. Sadly, in early January, I had an overuse injury and it was painful just to walk. The pain forced me to find an alternative form of exercise. My friend suggested the stationary bike and hula hooping or jump roping for 40 minutes. She said that the jump rope would be even better for me, but I didn’t have a proper surface for jumping. My only options were grass or gravel.
I discover Hula Hooping
A hula hoop is a beautiful thing. You can take it anywhere for a fun workout on the go!
Hula hooping it was! At first I rushed to the nearest Target hoping to find a fitness hoop, but the only option was a feather light toyshop hoop. It was a decent attempt, but I could not last more than 5 seconds before the hoop fell to the ground with a dramatic crash. My partner even politely asked me if there was any way that I could hoop more quietly ??. Every time I dropped the hoop it felt like the crash got louder so I decided that I needed to find a different hoop. My partner ordered us matching fitness hoops that night.
A few weeks later our fitness hoops arrived and I started looking online for hula hooping workouts. I had tried setting a timer for 40 minutes and turning on the tunes, but the time seemed to last forever. It was boring and unsustainable and I knew that I needed to find a more enjoyable way to hoop. When you are standing still and struggling to keep the hoop spinning around your waist; 40 minutes feels like an eternity. I quickly noticed that there were hardly any hula hooping workouts on YouTube. I found only 3 instructors who posted hula hooping videos that were longer than 30 minutes.
I will never forget the day that I discovered Bee Varga The Hula Hooper. It was my 2nd day and I was trying to figure out how I would pass the 40 minutes. At the time, I was still learning how to keep the hoop spinning around my waist. I gave this workout a shot because it fell just under my targeted time frame.
30 Min Weighted Hula Hoop Basics Workout For Weight Loss | Burn Fat, Get Lean and Dance:
This workout changed my life forever. I know that sounds dramatic, but it is completely true. This lady was so bubbly, fit, fun, and inspiring. I was so lost as I stumbled along throughout this workout, but I made it to the end and felt so happy.
Later that week, I was working through a coding tutorial on Udemy and decided to check and see if they offered a hula hooping course. To my surprise, Bee Varga had a course here too and I noticed that she had glowing reviews. I almost bought the course, but decided to check out her website directly. I promised myself that if I stuck with hula hooping long enough to enjoy it I would soon treat myself to one of her courses.
This buying guide was so helpful and helped me figure out where to begin my search for the perfect hoop. I promptly rushed over to her recommended site: The Spinsterz. It took me forever to choose my hoop, but once I placed my order I was so excited and couldn’t wait for it to arrive.
My sparkly hoop arrived and it was love at first sight! It was such a wonderful upgrade compared to my foam encased fitness hoop. I was so excited and thrilled about hula hooping that I messaged Bee on instagram to thank her for her wonderful classes. She suggested that I record myself hula hooping because it would be an amazing way to keep track of my progress. I took her words to heart, but I definitely felt intimidated because at that point I was super shy and hated taking videos of myself.
That Friday I took a clip of myself hula hooping (that day I hula hooped happily outside for 2 whole hours) and sent it to her. She was so supportive of my journey and it inspired me to keep going. After I had done most of her You Tube workouts, I treated myself to her 30 Day Hula Hottie Program. This lead me to what I believe is a life-long love for hula hooping and an appreciation for my body. I could go on and on with this story because there is a lot more, but I will save that for another post and shift gears from here.
It felt like an uphill battle until I hit a plateau
I had spent the entire year (from August of 2020) desperately trying to lose weight. I did a month long fitness challenge with a personal trainer and then jumped right into another program created by another trainer. I had a regimen of weighing myself daily (I learned this from my tiny stint with noom) and taking my measurements once a week.
After my foot recovered in March I started running again, hula hooped, did a 90 day weightlifting program, some buti yoga and was eating clean and tracking my macros religiously. I did get some great results by late spring, but by the end of summer I was exhausted and felt like I had plateaued. It was very discouraging and I felt like my hard work was no longer paying off.
In September I decided to do things differently. I talked with Bee about my struggles to get her expert opinion. In addition to being a world class hula hooper, Bee is also a Personal trainer, Olympic Weightlifting Instructor, Kettlebell Coach, Jump Rope Instructor, Holistic Massage Therapist, and Cupping therapist. I knew that she would be a good person to ask for advice.
Time to become a specialist
She suggested that I become a specialist and try just hula hooping because it would be enough for me to reach my goals. At first I didn’t want to believe her. How could I possibly sculpt a beautiful physique and get fit and healthy with just hula hooping? It took me awhile to adjust to this concept and I decided to give it a try.
That month I stopped running, weightlifting, yoga, intermittent fasting, and all forms of food restriction. I had also decided that I wanted to heal from an eating disorder that I didn’t realize was still an issue so the timing was perfect. After 3 weeks of just hula hooping I decided to weigh myself purely out of curiosity. To my surprise I had lost a few pounds and I felt fantastic!
It was so nice to meet you. Thank you for taking time to read about my hula hooping journey. Are you curious about hula hooping yet? Hopefully I will see you again soon!
Hello! Before we dive in, I would like to share some words of wisdom from my hula hoop instructor, Bee Varga. If your hoop drops, pick it up and keep spinning! It has been almost 2 months since our last long heart-to-heart and a lot has changed (for the better.) During these last 6 months, it felt like the stability in our lives was unraveling. The worst part is that a lot of the mishaps were mostly beyond our control. In this post, I would like to tell you about how this stressful stretch of time affected my hula hooping and also the way that I applied the law of attraction.
If your hoop drops, pick it up and keep spinning!
Body Goals update:
If your hoop drops, pick it up and keep spinning!
We all know the old cliché: “Life is what happens while you are making other plans.” I definitely had some plans for this new year and then life happened. The good news is that I was able to stay the course. At the beginning of this year in my “Body Goals post”; I had set an intention to base my body goals on the skills and abilities that I want to acquire. Additionally, I broke up with my scale and promised myself that I wouldn’t weigh or measure my body. I have to admit that our scale broke so I wouldn’t even be able to weigh myself with that scale if I wanted to, but that was probably just the universe working it’s magic 🤣🤣.
I celebrated my 1 year hoopiversary!
Speaking of magic… My hula hooping practice has been a magical force in my life. I just celebrated my 1 year Hoopiversary in February and I’m so thankful for the many ways that hula hooping has helped me to grow as a fitter, happier, and more confident person. Visit the link below to study with my amazing hula hoop teacher, Bee Varga.
When I first started hula hooping last February, it was unheard of for me to record myself doing anything. I am camera shy and shy in general so it’s out of character for me to film myself. Reaching out to Bee Varga on social media to thank her for being an amazing teacher was nerve wracking. To my surprise, she responded and encouraged me to record myself because it would be fun to celebrate the progress through my journey. Thank goodness I stepped out of my box, reached out to her, and took her advice!
Last June, I set an intention to hula hoop daily and share a recording of my session in the Facebook group. I followed through with this goal and continued to hoop daily until the month of November. At that point, I was doing Bee’s Showgirl 2 Course and I desperately needed rest days to recover from her strenuous workouts. The key is to listen to your body. It really does know what’s best.
Get Fit Fast While Having Fun:
The Law of Attraction
The philosophy behind the Law of Attraction is that positive thoughts will attract a positive outcome and negative thoughts will produce a negative outcome. Recently, I decided to start learning about the Law of Attraction and how to apply it to my life. It feels as if I have only scratched the surface in my learning, but have had the opportunity to experience both positive and negative affects of the law of attraction. I am looking forward to learning more!
Learning to flex my manifestation muscles
November was a powerful month for me manifestation-wise. I was deeply focused on applying the Law of Attraction and manifesting good things in my life and the universe gave me lots of exciting gifts. I took them as signs that my application of the Law of Attraction was working. The 1st obvious gift from the universe was that my hula hoop friend joined me in doing the Showgirl 2 course. My teacher Bee, suggested that I do SG2 and in my mind I thought it was way before I was ready because I couldn’t even spin 2 hoops simply around my waist at that time. She also recommended that I do the course with my friend and together we bonded and had a wonderful time doing it!
Another manifestation gift
That same week, my hooping teacher also recommended that I start playing around with different outfits and poses to build my confidence. She suggested that I do a fun hula hooping photo shoot (I still need to do this.) I started fantasizing about how cool it would be to have my massage therapist take a picture of my back the next time I got a massage (wasn’t sure when that would be.) I also wanted to find someone who does cupping. To me, just asking the massage therapist to take 1 picture of me would have been a big deal because I am so self conscious and don’t want to seem full of myself.
If your hoop drops, pick it up and keep spinning!
That same day, an email showed up in my inbox from a massage therapist who was working at an upscale waterfront spa. She said that she was looking for models who wouldn’t mind taking pictures and videos during spa treatments and in exchange she would give 50% off all treatments. I almost didn’t even open the email, but I’m so glad I did because I got pampered from head to toe and also got to enjoy my 1st modeling gig. She also added in a massage, complete with cupping! I got everything that I was hoping for and more! Being open to receiving made all the difference in the world!
Applying the Law of Attraction during stressful times
For the last 6 months, I couldn’t stop stressing and worrying and almost all of my worries and fears came true. I guess this is proof that those negative thoughts will produce a negative outcome.
I allowed the stress to depress me and that created lots of resistance, making it nearly impossible for me to be creative and receive gifts and blessings. I’m learning that an essential step to manifesting and applying the Law of Attraction is to be open to receiving.
When we are stressed and depressed we often have tunnel vision and cannot see past the darkness of the current circumstance. Learning how to apply the law of attraction during times of stress is something that I am going to start practicing. I can tell that it is a skill that takes time and patience to develop.
It wasn’t until the month of February that I started to take some breaks from hula hooping. It was an intensely challenging month and I was so lethargic, unmotivated, and uninspired. Looking back, it might have had something to do with the fact that I was hula hooping less than ever. Sometimes the things that we avoid are the very things that we should do!
With that in mind, I have decided to pick my hoop up and keep spinning! If you are currently working through a challenging time, please do not lose hope. Everything changes and things will get better as long is we remain hopeful and continue to actively work towards our dreams!
Hula hooping is a fun way to get your heart pumping while increasing skills like balance, coordination, strength, and flexibility. Pick up your hoop, spin it around your waist, and notice how it feels. Now try spinning your hoop in the other direction. Does it feel different? Is one direction easier than the other? It is very common to favor one direction over the other. When you branch out to other skills like hand, arm, and leg hooping, you will probably notice that one side is stronger than the other. This is totally normal and the beautiful thing is that hula hooping can not only help us identify imbalances, but also correct them.
In this video, Bee discusses: imbalances, alignment, inhibition, compensation, repetitive strain injury, distress Vs. eustress, and mobility.
8- This is why you are not losing weight with a hula hoop
*Please pick up your hoop and spin it while you watch this video*
In this video, Bee talks about why you may not be getting your desired results with hula hooping. There is a massive push for people to lose weight and get skinny and while there are benefits to carrying less baggage, sometimes losing isn’t the answer.
When hula hoopers express their frustration about their weight loss journey & they message me for help: I would like to tell them all that losing weight is not necessarily a good thing. It may even mean that one is developing osteoporosis… but I do understand what they mean: they dream about a toned body, they wish their tummy was a bit flatter & their waist was a bit narrower. They wish they felt comfortable wearing anything. They wish they had a good time in their body. That I can help with!!! With hooping you will be able to achieve it all & you do not have to workout all day every day if you hoop smart!
-Bee Varga the Hula Hooper
Just remember it’s all in your head. Why don’t you think positive instead?
I think that it is worthwhile to get away from the mindset of losing and to focus more on building and creating the body and lifestyle of your dreams. Our thoughts are so powerful that if we think a thought enough it can come true. Rather than thinking negative and discouraging thoughts why not think positive and uplifting thoughts? Let’s try it and find out what happens? It could transform your whole life.
Thank you for joining me! I hope you will enjoy your hula hooping journey. For more courses and tutorials please visit Bee’s Website! She even offers a Hula Hooping Studio membership that will give you access to all of her content and also exclusive content that you can’t find anywhere else.
Bumble is widely considered a leader in the dating app world. The popular dating app bumble is not meant for cheaters, but it is a likely place to find one. Dating apps and sites can offer an easy avenue for your significant other to be lead astray. Unfortunately people don’t always delete their app profiles when they say they do, and an “innocent chat” can lead to a frustrating case of heartbreak.
How Do You Search For a Specific Person?
How exactly do you find a specific person on the Bumble dating app in 2022? First, you must set your location to match theirs. If you aren’t already in close proximity to the specific person on Bumble, you will have to enable Bumble’s Travel feature, (formerly known as passport).
The Travel feature will allow you to set your location to any location you want.
Warning:
Bumble prohibits any kind of geo spoofing technology outside of Bumble’s travel feature. According to numerous Bumble users, this will result in a permanent ban of your account.
Set your account preferences
Next, set your account preferences to match the data on the specific person’s profile you are looking for. Specifically, you want to set your age preference, your sexual orientation preference, and set your search radius to 25 miles for good measure.
Finally, swipe through everyone until you find your desired specific Bumble profile. If you don’t want them to know you’re looking for them, you can actually set your profile to only be shown to users you specifically liked first. To do this, you will need to activate Bumble Premium on your Bumble profile.
If and when you find the specific person on Bumble; be sure to practice good decision making skills and restraint. If you live in a heavily populated area or you just don’t have time to go through Bumble accounts, then there is good news for you. Buzzhumble is a reputable service that catches people who use Bumble. They perform steps similar to the ones above much faster than you could on your own. They provide complete profiles for everyone within 25 miles of any specific location and every profile has the specific time and date they were found actively using Bumble.
Are you worried that your significant other might be cheating? Concerned that your teenager might be signing into a dating app and talking to strangers? Here are 4 ways to search for a Tinder Profile.
Here are 4 easy ways to search for a Tinder profile:
4 easy ways to perform a Tinder Search
Have you found “the one”, but are still suspicious that they may not be completely faithful? Or are you concerned that you may not be your partner’s one and only? While Tinder does not have a search function; there are some tricks you can use to find a specific person on Tinder.
1. Create a new Tinder Profile & use Tinder Passport.
It is important to create a new and appealing profile so that it will be seen by many. You will need a Tinder Plus account so that you can use the Tinder Passport feature. With Tinder Passport you can place your profile anywhere in the world. This makes it easier to find a person at a specific location without having to be there physically. This will allow you to match with people from around the world. You will also need a Tinder Plus account because Tinder limits the number of swipes on free accounts.
2. Set your preferences to match.
It will be easier to find someone on Tinder if you know their specific details. Tinder works by swiping “right” for a yes and “left” for a no. In order to avoid being swiped left on; it is important to know their gender preference, age, and specific location.
When you set up your Tinder profile, set your location to match their location as closely as possible. This may be an address, college campus, gym, or workplace that they are likely to be at. The more specific you are the more likely you are to find that person. Next, set your age to match their age. Finally, make sure that your gender preference is appropriately set to match with them.
3. Reduce your search radius.
This is where it is important to be as specific as possible about your search location. Under your Tinder App Settings, set your location to match their swiping location. Reduce your search radius to 2 miles. A wider search radius will cause the whole search to take longer and will make it harder to find your specific person.
Swipe left until you find them. They may have changed their age or distance. Also remember that they may be using a different name / alias. Try moving your search location around and expanding your search radius.
4. Don’t swipe right on any profiles.
Since your mission is to find a specific person on Tinder, do not swipe right on any profiles. This will only slow you down. Instead, swipe left until you find the person you are looking for.
If you still haven’t found them, grab a cup of coffee and keep on swiping left. This can be a long and arduous process especially if you are searching in a highly populated region.
5. Take a screenshot for evidence.
Surprise! This is a bonus tip that could be a game-changer in your private investigation journey. Once you finally find the person you are looking for, make sure that you take a screenshot for evidence.
If they think you are suspicious of them, then they may delete the app from their phone and claim that it must have been a blast from the past, but if you have a picture of them matching with you then they cannot deny it.
From here, it may be good to break up with this person, but I encourage you to use your best judgement. Remember that Respect Is Earned Not Given.
Search multiple dating apps
If you feel suspicious of your significant other you may want to search multiple dating apps to see if they have more than one dating profile. Many people who use Tinder also use the Bumble dating app. Bumble has rapidly grown in popularity and many would argue that Bumble is the best dating app. It allows the female to make the first move and also has more verified accounts that Tinder does.
Should you hire an investigator?
Do you have time for this? If not, it may be helpful to hire a private investigator: click here.
There is an online service called Buzz Humble. Fill out the quick form with the details of the person you are searching for then grab a cup of coffee while they do the search for you. Buzz humble will email you a report that has a copy of everyone’s dating profile in the area that you specified.
I hope these tips were helpful. Stay safe and happy dating!
Hello there, Whisper here! It’s been awhile, hasn’t it? I’m still here, but I have been somewhat wallowing in the winter blues. Let’s face it. The world feels uncertain and divided and it is easy to feel down about it all. Thanksgiving came and went. Winter Solstice already happened. Christmas is already history and 2021 swiftly came to a close. This is the time of year when many people start thinking about their goals for the new year and some new year resolutions. Let’s talk about “body goals.” What do you think about when you think about the term “body goals?”
What do you think about when you think about the term “body goals?”
What comes to mind when you think of “body goals?” For some reason, I think of those seductive pinterest pins that show off the gym bunnies and ripped men. Or those lovely little infographs that say, “if you take a cold shower, drink your coffee black, don’t eat until this hour, follow these macros, measure yourself every week, and do these exercises X amount of times then you can look like this.” Cue gym bunny.
I swear, I’m not hating on people who follow these protocols. I’m simply conjuring up the images that come to mind when I think of “body goals.” Basically, a beautiful body that is currently out of reach for me. Many of these guidelines work for people and I definitely got some results when I tried them, but in the end they weren’t sustainable.

A funny thing happened about a month ago. I got locked out of my original pinterest account and haven’t been able to log back in. I had the same pinterest account for years. Probably since at least 2017 when I fed into all of the tutorials and body goals propaganda. I tried the diets and the programs and this last year I took it all more seriously than I ever have, but by the end of the summer I had to make some big and bold changes.
I found myself feeling discouraged and burned out because I was not getting the results that were promised and I started to feel like something was wrong with me. Sometimes I still feel this way. I almost wish that those promises were real because then I could follow a routine and not think too hard about it. I got some results, but in the end I felt exhausted and drained and that did not feel that great.
Why was it funny to get locked out? I have decided to take it as a sign from the universe to let the old account with those old ideals and body goals go. That’s a nice way to get some closure, isn’t it?
My knee jerk reaction was to shame myself and to feel upset about “messing up.” I took a deep breath and told gently told myself to reflect on the reasons why I was feeling this way. I discovered that this reaction happened out of habit. When life gets stressful I used to blame myself or my weight, but those days are over. It’s time to begin anew.
When I feel stressed I still feel myself gravitating towards those old and obsolete habits and reactions, but I am trying to replace the old habits with new and healthy ones. I know that changing my thought patterns is going to take time, patience, and practice, but I am ready to put in the work.
My new body goals
I caught myself in that moment right before I took a nosedive and I made a commitment. From now on I am going to base my body goals on things that I would like to be able to do. What are some new skills that I want to acquire? What are fun ways that I can celebrate my body and it’s beautiful abilities? Most importantly, I am going to focus on feeling good about myself the way that I am. Right here. Right now.

My workout of choice doesn’t feel like work!
I have had to shift my mindset in every way and it is still a daily work in progress. The good news is that my workout doesn’t even feel like work. I am a hula hooper and my hula hoop has been my happy place that I look forward to spending time in every single day.
My teacher is Bee Varga the Hula hooper and her hula hooping courses have changed my life. In August, I subscribed to her Hooping studio which is a treasure trove of courses, tutorials, and fun flows.
The Complete Hula Hooping Learning Experience:
Here is a little tour through Bee’s Studio. She gives advice on where and how to start your hula hooping journey and suggests an order of courses to follow.
This is the amazing hula hooping flow that I am currently learning:
In November, Bee suggested that I do her Showgirl 2 course with a friend. It was on my wishlist, but at the time I didn’t think that I was ready. This course is full of twin hooping (hooping with 2 hula hoops) and at the time I couldn’t even spin two hoops around my waist. I took the leap of faith and it was the BEST decision I could have ever made. Working through this course has transformed my entire life and I am just getting started. My strength, stamina, balance, flexibility, and mobility has improved so much in a short span of time.
I’m signing off for now, but I will be back soon. I have a lot to tell you. Stay tuned!
Whisper here! TRIGGER WARNING: I just want to remind you that I am not yet an expert in ANY of these fields. I am just a girl who very recently used to constantly yo-yo diet and over-train relentlessly. Lately, I have been going through an internal struggle and I need to get this off of my chest before I can fully embrace a new way of thinking and being. Diets don’t work and deliberately not dieting doesn’t work either. Please keep reading if you want to find out how I came to this conclusion.
I believe that our bodies are true miracles that should be celebrated. You are already enough right here right now. And you can do what you please with your vessel.
When I turned 30 I was worried that it would all be downhill from there, but it took me 2 more years to really take action. I decided to begin my fitness journey a little over a year ago because I was starting to develop health problems. I spent nearly a solid year trying to “do things right.”
August 2020: Let the games begin!
I kicked off my journey with a Fitness Challenge run by a personal trainer. She included a meal plan and a progressive workout plan. The nutrition plan was very restrictive and required us to eat the same food every day for an entire month with 1 cheat meal per week. I got results because before this program I wasn’t exercising or paying attention to what I was eating. At this point, the phrase “diets don’t work” was not a part of my vocabulary. My cravings were monstrous throughout this month, but I stayed the course. Sadly, the trainer stopped responding and eventually ghosted me. I was bummed and felt like I had been dumped.
I think what disturbed me the most was the fact that a virtual stranger could have this affect on me. Even though I was a grown adult, I still felt awful and like I had done something wrong. From here I wanted to build myself back up so that little things like this would not get me down in the future.
September – October 2020: We can work from home.
After the fitness challenge, I decided to follow an 8 week At-Home Training Guide by Stephanie Buttermore. I enjoyed the structure of her program and it gave me a strong foundation in strength training. Unfortunately, my nutrition wasn’t on point this month. I didn’t gain weight, but I also didn’t see great gains.
At the end of October I started slow jogging and this really helped my mental health. I enjoyed the fresh air and taking some quality time for myself. It felt like free therapy.
Body Positivity Didn’t Work For Me (What Worked and Tips):
November – December: Get Shredded 21 Day Challenge
Back in September, I was feeling so bummed by the fact that the other trainer had abandoned me that I reached out to a personal trainer who had trained me for my 1st triathlon a decade ago. He told me that he was creating an online fitness program that would be available in November. I was thrilled and couldn’t wait to get started!
This program included a custom meal plan, bodyweight workout program, and daily inspirational videos. I really liked the online format and overall structure of the program. Don’t be fooled by the fact that this program is bodyweight based. The workouts are super intense.
I repeated this program twice for good measure until it expired. It helped me to gain momentum, but my foot bothered me a lot. The program had a lot of jumping exercises and I think the impact hurt my foot. It got to the point where it was excruciating for me to stand in a lunge position or put pressure on my toes. At times I could barely walk and this became problematic for my running.
January: This is no time for an injury!
At the end of December I developed an overuse injury and by January I had to stop running completely. I was slightly devastated because running had become a part of my routine and I had learned to love it. A friend of mine suggested that I Hula hoop for 40 minutes and ride the stationary bike if I needed more of a workout. Back in September, I had started a weekly ritual of weighing myself and taking my measurements. I felt like it was a good way to hold myself accountable and stay on track.
February: Let’s Hula Hoop!
I missed running and was not thrilled about trying anything else, but I was terrified by the thought of getting out of shape. My partner ordered us fitness hula hoops and I decided to give it a spin.
30 Minute Weighted Hula Hoop Workout for Weight loss | Bee Varga the Hula Hooper:
After this workout I was hooked even though I could barely spin the hula hoop without dropping it.
By March I was able to run again and I was so thrilled. I started running for an hour or more every day and hula hooping for 40 minutes. I decided to watch Bee Varga’s Hula Hoop buying guide and buy myself a better dance hoop.
Hula Hoop Buying Guide for Beginners:
Remember that the size and material of your hoop makes a huge difference. The minute I thought about hula hooping I rushed to our local Target and picked up a toy shop hoop, but it kept falling down every 5 seconds. This was super discouraging and I learned that it was happening because it was too light and not the right size. Purchasing a proper fitting hula hoop made a huge difference and my workouts became a lot more enjoyable. My 1st hoop was a 38 inch dance hoop from The Spinsterz.
May: Summertime Fine 3.0
I was making decent progress with my weightloss and I wanted to amp up my progress and so I decided to do Sydney Cumming’s 90 day Summertime Fine program.
I continued to run in the mornings, hula hoop, and I added strength training to the mix. I really enjoy Sydney’s upbeat and inspiring spirit. She also has lots of fun workouts and outstanding programming.
June: I Commit to Hula Hooping, recording, and posting daily
In June I decided that I wanted to improve my hula hooping skills by hooping consistently. I committed to hula hooping every day for the month of June, recording myself, and posting it to a private facebook group. I was surprised that I was able to stick with it.
At the end of June I asked the members in the group if I should continue posting everyday and many of them asked me to continue. A few of them even said that my posts were inspiring them. I was touched and had to continue!
Here is a post my hula hooping teacher created. She decided to hula hoop every day and document the process.
I Hula Hoop Every Day | Hoop it off with Bee Varga:
July: I can only sustain this for one more month.
July was an intense month, workout wise. I was running 6 days a week, weightlifting 6 days a week, hula hooping daily, and trying to do some buti yoga too. Additionally, I was adjusting my macros every single week and doing my best to stay the course. My life seemed to revolve around my “fitness regime.”
I felt so accomplished when I reached Day #90 of Sydney’s Summertime Fine 3.0 Challenge. It felt like a huge accomplishment.
By the end of July, I was very tired. My body was definitely leaning out and I liked the way that I looked, but I was exhausted. I also felt discouraged because it seemed like I had plateaued. I talked about it in the hula hooping facebook group and finally decided to stop weighing myself every day.
In May, I had a tiny stint with the Noom weightloss app, but quickly deleted it after trying it out for 2 weeks because the app had issues and they did not deliver the services that I paid for. Luckily, I was able to get a refund, but I decided to continue weighing myself daily because they said that it was “scientifically the best way to lose weight.”
Bee Varga is the very best online hula hoop instructor that I could find and I spent a long time searching.
Here is Bee’s Description of her Hula Hottie Course:
The Hula Hottie is the best 30 workout program that guides you from a beginner to a proper awesome FITTIE! You get fit as well as learn fun tricks and moves and time flies so quick when you are having fun! Use your brain and body to evolve! Make hooping into a skill you are proud of! You do not need any ballet or gymnastics or circus background… I started off overweight and unfit… so if I could do it, you absolutely can! Spend a whole month hooping with me EVERY DAY!
-Bee Varga the Hula Hooper
I learned so much throughout Bee’s 30 day Hula Hottie Course. By the end of the course, I had an 8 minute choreographed dance that I was very proud of! And so much more! I highly recommend her courses!
September: I decided to heal from my eating disorder and started to improve my relationship with food.
Diets Don’t work.
By September, I was feeling very exhausted, drained, and discouraged. I was still dieting, running, hula hooping every day and trying to do some weightlifting, but everything was starting to feel like a chore. My hula hoop instructor suggested that I try becoming a specialist.
Diets don’t work! It’s more important to feel good.
Here is Bee’s Description of her Pure Core Course:
Pure Core is the place to be if you want to dance and play and feel amazing in your skin. Boost your confidence, feel IRRESISTIBLE & full of energy. This course is full of hoop moves around your core: hips, waist, chest & shoulders and it is full of dance and fun and hot showgirl secrets to make you feel like you are the most irresistible hula hooper ever! An entire month to reprogram your body & mind to feel like a hula hooping superhuman!
Bee Varga the Hula Hooper
Bee said that I could still reach my health and fitness goals with just hula hooping. She also started introducing me to “The Law Of Attraction.” Back then it honestly sounded too good to be true. I was worried that if I stopped doing everything that I was doing that I would gain weight and lose all of my progress. At the same time, I also knew that I could no longer do everything that I was doing. It was not sustainable and was taking a major toll on my mental and physical health. I also imagine that I wasn’t much fun to be around because I was so grumpy all the time. Dieting has a way of making people moody!
A friend in the Facebook group reached out to me and inspired me to start healing from the eating disorder that I had been struggling with since I was 10. I didn’t even realize that I still had the issue since I wasn’t rail thin, but after talking with her it became evident that it was time for me to heal.
Here are some of the books I read to learn about healing from eating disorders:
These books were very informative and introduced me to concepts I had never heard of before. I had never heard that diets don’t work. My whole life I had always been told that nutrition and diet were the keys to losing weight and getting healthy. I still do believe that proper nutrition is important for maintaining good health, but I have learned that it is damaging to be so restrictive.
I stopped restricting my food and ate until I was full. After about 3 weeks of only hula hooping and not dieting at all I decided to weigh myself purely out of curiosity. I made peace with it ahead of time and told myself that I would be neutral about the number.
I had expected to gain weight, but I stayed the same. This was so encouraging to me and felt like a victory. My only regret was that I had wasted so much time and energy dieting and over-training like a mad woman.
October: Deliberately not dieting doesn’t work either.
In October I decided to deliberately embrace not dieting. I ate everything that I could have ever wanted and more. I was actually going back and forth because my wrists / tendonitis were causing me excruciating pain. I was so thankful that I could still hula hoop, but I was in constant pain and could not sleep at night.
I started eating more plant based meals and it really seemed to help. This was a delicate balance because I noticed that the guidelines of avoiding meat and dairy were fairly restrictive and it was starting to interfere with my eating disorder recovery. Once I felt better I did go back to eating meat and dairy products again, but if I notice a flair up I back off from the animal products.
Here is Bee’s description of the Showgirl 1 Workshop:
Hooping can be just tricks… or it can be a dance, a show, a confidence boosting eyeball grabbing celebration of your beautiful curves no matter how many tricks you can do…
I am not anti-trick! I love them all! BUT as a professional stage performer I had to learn how to show off my body and my moves so that no attention escapes.
I also remember never having confidence or appreciating my body… but when a hula hoop touches & goes for your curves you just cannot help but feel irresistible! This workshop is to amplify all that is perfect and beautiful about you so you start moving like a Hula Hoop Goddess! Only the blind can resist You after this one!
The 4 full conditioning workouts will get you turn into a hot sweaty mess, shredded and satisfied! But they also help you feel super confident about your hoop skills because you will hammer them into your muscle memory so much that you can never get them wrong!
Bee Varga the Hula Hooper
This showgirl 1 workshop did wonders for my confidence. We learned so many fun confidence boosting poses that transferred to all areas of my life. I started walking through the grocery store like a starlit and my confidence was on fire! It’s amazing what a positive difference our body language can make.
Showgirl training improved my balance, flexibility, coordination, and mobility. If you are looking for a fun way to spice up your workouts and build confidence then you should definitely give Showgirl training a spin! The benefits are endless and I could go on and on!
I hula hooped and posted my recordings 150 days in a row!
The end of October was a major milestone for me because I had successfully hula hooped every single day for 150 days and I recorded myself and posted the recordings in the facebook group.
This is also a huge accomplishment for me because I am extremely shy and would have never recorded myself before. Doing this pushed me far outside of my comfort zone and it helped me grow in so many ways.
I have to say that there is a reason why my pen name is “Whisper” and I am writing this on an anonymous blog. I like my privacy 😉
Deliberately not dieting doesn’t work:
My heading for October says that deliberately not dieting doesn’t work because at the end of this month when the euphoria of my accomplishments wore off; I started to feel guilty about my food choices. I worried that eating whatever I wanted would have dire consequences and I would regret it. My whole being seemed to be overcome with fear and guilt and this is not healthy either.
November: Let’s make some changes!
Last week I felt yucky. I had this internal struggle of wanting to embrace the skin that I’m in, but also feeling guilty and full of shame. I’m learning about the Law Of Attraction and am currently reading a book called: “Delicious Alignment” which talks about women who applied the Law Of Attraction to their weight loss and health journeys.
In my last article, “Get off the Scale and Get In Alignment,” I highlighted the first chapter of this book where Rhonda talks about getting in alignment and breaking up with the scale. What did I do last Thursday? I was feeling awful about myself and I got on the scale and found out that I gained some weight.
I’m sharing this with you to show that sometimes, even though we know what we should do; we decide to do the exact opposite. The good news is that in the past I would have been crushed about the number, but this time around I accepted it and was able to move on.
From there I promised myself that I would embrace and love my body. I am going to find out if fitness can feel good. I hope that you will continue to follow me on my journey because I have a lot to share!
November was a stressful month. This week’s holiday carried some frantic energy and then random expectations were being hurled my way. This morning I made my decision. I need a vacation from social media.
This has happened before
I really do enjoy social media and I feel blessed that we have such an easy way to stay in touch with friends and family. The last time that I took a clean break from social media was in 2015. I had gone back to school to complete my undergrad degree and was studying computer science. Back then I was a total social media addict and I knew that the only way that I would be able to learn anything using my computer would be if I took away the distractions. Social media was a huge distraction because it had become a lifestyle. I was constantly checking in, posting pics, and scrolling my feed.
I took a dramatic approach and completely deleted all of my social media accounts. The only thing that I had left was my WordPress blog which I just retired over the summer. This was the best decision and my social media free life lasted for 2.5 years.
I need a vacation from social media.
Break-up withdrawals
I had mild withdrawals in the beginning because I had made some major life changes. I quit the full time job I had been working for the last 3 years to start a new full time job at a local high school. I was also a full time student and my boyfriend and I had bought our first house. When you make big, bold, changes; sometimes you lose friends. This happened to me and my life felt a little deserted, but I had school, work, and life to keep me busy.
It was a magical time in my life
It was also a magical time in my life. Shortly after this lifestyle overhaul, my bf and I got our passports and dreamed about traveling. In fall of 2016 we almost left the country permanently. We went as far as moving there and even buying a car, but we missed our cats so much that we came back. I made it back in time to start the fall quarter of my Sophomore year. I filled the social media void by blogging my a$$ off. I also made it a point to stay in touch with a few close friends (1 to be exact.)
During the last quarter of that time period (in 2017), we created an online business that rapidly took off. It was a pleasant surprise and that August I decided to create social media accounts to see if I could advertise the business with them. It was so nice to reconnect with friends and family after being gone for so long.
Back at it again
It took no time at all for me to become a social media addict once again. I can proudly say that I have been addicted for the last 4 solid years. I made a few attempts to take a break from social media, but they were all in vain. I never lasted for more than a day.
In June I started hula hooping every single day and posting about it in a private facebook group. It was totally out of character for me because I am very private and shy, but this ritual helped me to grow as a hula hooper and build my confidence. There was no way that I could take a social media break because I was committed to my daily post and my weekly reel. I posted in the group every single day for 150 days and then I decided that it was time for me to find a new flow.
After 150 days of daily hooping & posting, I felt a little burned out and decided to shift my attention. I stopped overtraining and I even take days off. I used to worry that if I rested or took a day off that I would lose my progress. Now I realize that rest is just as important as work.
This week it felt like social media was being extra demanding of me. It caused me so much stress and yesterday I felt so drained that I could barely move. This morning, when I was working in the garden I tried to pinpoint the source of my stress. Taking a break from social media just felt like a “better feeling thought.” I thought about how I just want to be less accessible and focus on myself and my goals. I also like the thought of living my life in real time without seeking the likes and approval.
Quote by Zoey Sayward
Living in real-time
Edification and validation is nice, but this morning I thought about how I don’t need the approval of others to know that we are kicking a$$ at life. Occupying your own space can be so liberating.
Before I make a big, bold, decision I usually do a mental or written pros and cons list. This morning I realized that we do not need social media to promote our business. In fact, I will have more time and energy to spend in helpful places if I spend less time on social media.
If you want to be free just be.
This may sound like an open-ended or incomplete thought, but it gives me hope because it reminds me to stay present. Sometimes life gets so hectic and we get so caught up in pushing and chasing goals that we forget to just be.
There is freedom and so much joy in the present moment if we choose to spend time there. I know that social media was giving me an excuse to check out. The doom-scrolling was starting consume my time and my energy. I was spending less time outside and I wasn’t even reading. I just started to feel depressed and drained. I’m so glad that I caught myself and decided to take this as a sign.
My Game-Plan.
I don’t know exactly how long I will be away. I deactivated my Facebook and my Instagram accounts and I uninstalled them both from my phone. I still have messenger on my phone because it is my primary form of communication. The minute I figured out how to hit pause, I felt like a major weight had been lifted. All of that chatter and pressure I was feeling seemed to dissipate into thin air. This really feels like freedom.
I don’t need to keep up with the Jones’s. I just need to live a life that feels good for me. I realized that worrying and stressing will not magically make things better. If I worry and stress about my sales being low it will not increase my sales. Instead, it may work against my best interest by draining me of my motivation. I would rather use my energy to create my dream life. I think that if I strip away the distractions I can make it happen.
When will I be back?
When will I return to social media world? I really don’t know… It could be tomorrow, it could be a week from now. It could be a year from now. I am keeping this open-ended and plan on navigating with my feelings. This is not like me at all. I usually set things in stone and am not very flexible, but this is part of the journey of raising my vibration. I am going to focus on feeling good and thinking better feeling thoughts.
How long is your ideal vacation?
If you could plan an ideal vacation, how long would it be? Would it be a weekend? 2 weeks? Forever? I think I am going to treat this like a vacation. I get to take this time for myself. I have never thought this way before, but I’m trying to think in new ways to get better results.
Stay Tuned
Because I was feeling so down, I missed reading a chapter in the “Delicious Alignment” book. When I first thought about reading the book, applying it, and blogging about my journey; I thought that I might do a daily post, but I quickly realized that this is not realistic. I am reading this book slowly and am trying to really digest and embrace the process.
I plan on staying flexible, but also consistent and now that I’m not distracted with social media I may be able to spend more time cultivating these goals. We only have so much time in each day, but we have the power to make the most of each moment. It starts with our thoughts and the little things that we do each day.
